Maddie Marasse blows bubbles at Winterfest 2013 in Wakamow Valley on Sunday. The event drew hundreds to the park for a day of cool-weather fun.
Hundreds of Moose Javians flocked to the Kiwanis River Park Skating Oval in Wakamow Valley for the latest iteration of Winterfest this past Sunday.
“It’s a day of fun, family activities for people to come out and enjoy,” explained organizer Gisele Perrault. “This is the third year running. We used to do it a long time ago, but there was a bit of a break. ... This is the third year for the new and improved version.”
The event’s attendance is usually determined by the weather, Perrault said, and this year’s organizers were anticipating a big turn-out because of the relatively warm day.
Their expectations were met: at one point, there were more people than parking spots to accomodate, and some event attendees had to walk some distance from their vehicle to the skating oval.
