The federal government announced Monday it has injected more than $26,000 into the Palliser Regional Library’s Moose Jaw headquarters at 366 Coteau St.W.

“The project that is getting done has been in the works for at least eight years. We’ve been trying to come up with the money to do this project,” said Terry Gabel, chairman of the Palliser Regional Library board. “Every year we’ve been cutting corners just to maintain the services we provide and one of the things that gets cut is facility funding.”

The funding has been specifically earmarked for the building of an accessible first-floor bathroom and several new offices, the replacement of the facility’s front door and improvements to the building’s insulation.

“Having an accessible washroom (on the main floor) will help the staff and help anyone that does come into the building for courses or whatever,” said Jan Smith, director of the Palliser Regional Library.
