Partnering up to create a more informative portal for those moving to the Friendly City, the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council and City of Moose Jaw are currently in the beginning phase of the new Immigration Portal.
Terry Wallace, of the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council, said the decision to create the new portal came to life because of a lack of information available on the current City of Moose Jaw website.
“The city felt it didn’t have enough information to give people looking to immigrate to Moose Jaw. It didn’t have a portal and still doesn’t. That is what we are working on now.”
With the help of grant money given to the city, from the government of Saskatchewan, the city was able to hire someone to develop a portal for them, hence its partnership with the council.
Upon completion, the new portal will be featured on the city’s website, however Wallace said the initiative is still quite away from that point.
At this time Wallace is in the research phase of the project.
“I am currently contacting a wide variety of individuals and groups, new immigrants, various associations in the community and businesses to get an idea from them as to the information they would like to see on the website.”
He said it will be what he gathers during his research, along with his own recommendations that will make up the new portal.
