Graphic design business not afraid to put more on its plate

Wow Factor Media isn’t afraid to pull an all nighter to make clients happy.

The local upstart design business had a meager beginning out of Joel Pinel’s parent’s home and has blossomed into a company working with companies and clients in three provinces.

"We opened in the fall of 2009 and our head office is here in Moose Jaw,” Pinel said. “Our second and third locations were Saskatoon, then Regina and we do business in Alberta as well as Winnipeg.”

Pinel said Wow Factor employees will work with clients at the other locations, but the actual production of designs and products is manufactured in The Friendly City.

“If we’re working with someone in Edmonton or Calgary, and they need the product the same day, we’ve never had a problem getting it to them,” Pinel said about working with tight deadlines. “We have partners in those areas, so even if a problem came up we could have it printed there.”

He said the location at 302 Manitoba Street keeps growing, and the company is adding to equipment all the time to make sure it can meet all of its clients' needs.

“We now have an HP flat bed printer for printing on anything up to two inches thick, a roll to roll printer for wrap around designs and our Xerox printer for flyers, brochures and posters,” Pinel said. “We’re now doing everything from business cards, to car wrap advertising to billboards.”

Pinel said Wow Factor has its own installation team 3M, which he said is the standard in installation, and is branching into marketing and advertising promotions.

“We planned the launch party for the YaraCentre, doing all of the promotion, signage and the website,” Pinel said about the multifaceted project.

When he was asked what differences or trends he’s noticed in the last year, he said a big spike in business is coming from Saskatchewan. “When we started, it was a lot of business from Alberta, but the bulk of business we’re handling now is more local,” Pinel said.
