Two days after the provincial budget is announced on March 20, Finance Minister Ken Krawetz will be on hand for a budget presentation, luncheon and Q-and-A session.

“The provincial budget comes down on March 20, and we were able to get the finance minister to come two days later,” said Brian Martynook, executive director of the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce, which will host the event. “He’s going to go over what has come down in the budget, and usually he opens it up to questions after his presentation.”

A visit from the finance minister has been an annual tradition for almost a decade, Martynook said, but it is rare to get him so soon after the budget is released.

“Usually, we get the finance minister about a week or ten days after the budget,” he said. “This days we were able to get him a couple of days afterward, so some of the questions haven’t been asked and answered yet ... which is a great coup for Moose Jaw.”
