Dozens of radio-controlled (R/C) car enthusiasts travelled from across Western Canada to the Hillcrest Sports Centre for a three-day racing event this past weekend.
“It’s an eight race series across Western Canada,” said Josh Carter, president of the Western Canada Indoor Championship Series, who hosted the event.
The Moose Jaw stop was the sixth round in the series, which travels across eight cities in Western Canada including Victoria, Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge and Chilliwack.
The contests frequently draw out big names in the R/C racing world, Carter said.
“In R/C, like in anything else, there’s world champions. We’re guys — we take it too far,” he joked. “There’s guys that come up here that are world champions, U.S. champions, big race champions ... we get some big name racers, and everybody just has a blast.”
