Moose Jaw man dies in vehicle collision near Regina

A 24-year-old Moose Jaw male died in a two-vehicle collision on the Trans Canada Highway near Regina on Wednesday evening.

According to RCMP Saskatchewan media spokeswoman Sgt. Carole Raymond, police were called to the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m. Emergency Medical Services, RCMP and traffic analyst were at the scene.

The Moose Jaw man’s westbound van collided with a parked grain truck on the southside of the highway — about one kilometre east of the Regina.

Raymond said the crash is still under investigation and it is unknown, at this time, what charges, if any, will be laid.

She added the deceased Moose Jaw man’s family has not given police permission to release his name.

    If this article is accurate then the grain truck was parked on the left side of the Trans-Canada. That's illegal for a good reason. I hope the Times Herald follows this up with some more information. This from the SGI Drivers Handbook: 3.3 STOPPING AND PARKING You must move as far to the right as possible when stopping on a road. When stopping on a rural road or highway you must be 30 m (98 ft.) away from any vehicle stopped on the opposite side of the road or highway. Vehicles stopped on rural roads or highways at night must be marked with flares, hazard lights or reflectors. You must not tamper with the devices used to mark stopped vehicles...
