TORONTO - CTV's upcoming crime drama "Motive" has been picked up as a summer series by ABC.

The Canadian broadcaster says the Vancouver-shot procedural will air south of the border but an airdate is not yet known.

The series stars Kristin Lehman as Det. Angie Flynn, a homicide investigator who seeks clues to a killer who has already been revealed to viewers.

"NCIS" star Lauren Holly co-stars as brash medical examiner Dr. Betty Pryce.

The series comes from acclaimed executive producer Daniel Cerone ("The Mentalist," "Dexter"), who also wrote the pilot.

"Motive" premieres in Canada on Sunday following the Super Bowl. It moves to its regular time slot Feb. 10 on CTV.
