HALIFAX - The government of Nova Scotia says it plans to spend $525 million in the next fiscal year on capital projects such as road maintenance and hospital renovations.
Finance Minister Maureen MacDonald unveiled the plan today, which sets aside $247 million for improvements primarily to highways and bridges.
About $152 million has been budgeted for 2013-2014 for improvements to and construction of buildings such as schools, some of which has been recently announced.
Another $35 million is expected to go to new and ongoing information and technology projects for eight government departments and agencies.
MacDonald says the government estimates the capital spending will help create 3,700 full-time jobs.
