FREDERICTON - New Brunswick's financial position will be under the microscope today when the province's auditor general releases her annual report.

Kim MacPherson will present her findings at the legislative assembly.

A release from her office says the report will look at matters arising from audits of the province's financial statements and audits of Crown agencies and federal claims.

It will also look at a number of issues in the Department of Health, including payments to doctors.

In January, MacPherson said New Brunswick's rapid growth in net debt was a disturbing trend that could get worse because the provincial government wasn't doing enough to improve its finances.

Last month, Finance Minister Blaine Higgs said this year's deficit is now expected to grow to $356 million — up $173 million from the forecast in March.
