Montreal-based label UNTTLD channelled Japanese style for inspiration in its spring-summer line at World MasterCard Fashion Week on Friday.

Designers Jose Manuel St -Jacques and Simon Belanger reinterpreted the kimono with wrap-front blazers and jackets and asymmetrical draping on sleeves, as well as a slim-fit karate style suit-pant.

Featuring a broad range of fabrics from lamb leathers to crepe and silk gauze, the collection featured a strong mix of fitted separates and fluid, free-formed creations, including billowing long dresses, sheer column skirts, silk tunics and structured jackets. Cross ribbons and cotton straps adorned garments as collars, belts and hems. With the looks largely bathed in a palette of khaki green, black and white, copper metallic was a striking standout in the closing looks in the presentation.
