BOSTON - The Boston Bruins have signed forward Milan Lucic to a three-year contract extension worth US$18 million.

The six-foot-four, 220-pound Vancouver native had 26 goals and 35 assists last season with the Bruins, hitting the 20-goal mark for the second straight season.

He led the Bruins in scoring in 2010-11 with 30 goals and 32 assists. He added five goals and seven assists in 25 playoff games as the Bruins went on to capture the Stanley Cup.

In five seasons in Boston, Lucic has 212 points (90 goals, 122 assists) with 525 penalty minutes and a plus-43 rating in 359 games.

He was drafted by the Bruins in the second round, 50th overall, in the 2006 NHL draft.
