Moose Jaw Police Service arrested Richard Neustaeter, 62, after responding to a 911 call regarding an alleged break-in and assault report from an address on Arrowhead Road at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Friday.
Police arrived at the scene to find an alleged assault in progress. After his arrest, Neustaeter remained in custody until appearing in court Monday morning.
Neustaeter is also charged with wearing a face mask. The incident resulted in a woman requiring medical attention at Moose Jaw Union Hospital.
Judge Douglas Kovatch told Neustaeter the charges are very serious, so the accused would have to remain in custody until the bail hearing set for later this week.
However, speaking from the prisoner’s docket, Neustaeter expressed concerns about how remaining in custody might cause him some problems.
However, Kovatch replied he would simply have to wait until at least after the bail hearing.
