Hansen, who was arrested Feb. 25, 2009, appeared in front of a judge at the Court of the Queen’s Bench for the beginning stages of his preliminary hearing.
The hearing, which was expected to last the duration of the week, came to a quick end when Hansen waved his preliminary enquiry, said Crown prosecutor Rob Parker.
“After the Crown called its first two witnesses, Mr. Hansen indicated he was waving his preliminary enquiry and consented to the Judge ordering him to stand trial at the Court of the Queen’s Bench.”

Parker said a trial date has yet to be set. He said the process of preparing and filing the proper documents with the Court of the Queen’s Bench could take as long as six weeks.
Hansen will remain in custody until a trial date has been set.
Hansen was charged with the first-degree murder of Debra Smith after she was found stabbed to death in her Moose Jaw home.
