Two students are left critically injured after a car crash and their friend is arrested for drink-driving.
Fortunately this was a mock accident created by emergency services in Moose Jaw on Thursday to show students at Central Collegiate the dangers of drinking and taking risks while driving.
The scenario at Union Hospital was part of the P.A.R.T.Y program, which stands for Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth.
Paramedic Ray Francis, director, community relations and training, who explained to students what was happening during the accident, said the aim is to show students what can happen if they take bad decisions.
He said: “It is to encourage them to make safe decisions so they do not end up in the awful situations we come across and are called to.
“The first part of the day is a mock collision. We have a drink-driver who gets arrested and we have two passengers in the vehicle. One is seriously injured and the other has more minor injuries."
