The Salvation Army is gearing up for its annual Christmas fundraiser to get hampers out to needy families in the city.
Interviews with families are underway and will continue everyday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. until Dec. 4, at the Salvation Army.
Now is also the time for families and businesses interested in the Adopt-a-Family program to come forward.
Families in need are paired with local families or businesses who buy gifts and food to make up a hamper.
It will also soon be time for the Salvation Army kettles, which will be at six locations across the city from Nov.27.
Maj. Don Law, head of the Salvation Army in Moose Jaw, said the hampers contain turkey, potatoes, fresh vegetables and other Christmas goodies.
Toys are also given out for those with children.
“We usually do around 700 hampers,” Law said, “250 of those are for single people or couples and we have about 150 sponsor families.”
