Music fans will be able to put their knowledge to the test at a Tune Wars contest organized by SIAST Palliser Campus business marketing students on Dec. 1.
The students, along with Chillers Brew Pub, are hosting a ‘name that tune’ competition from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Money raised will go towards the Saskatchewan Winter games, which will be held in Moose Jaw from Feb. 14 to 20, 2010.
Amanda Lere, Tune Wars spokeswoman and SIAST marketing student, told the Times-Herald the contest is a required assignment for the event planning and public relations course.
“It’s required for the course,” she said, “so an event is put on every year but ‘name that tune’ is specific to our class.
“We will play a portion of a song and people have to name the tune and the artist and whoever gets the most right will win some prizes.”
Lere said prizes came from local businesses around Moose Jaw and included tanning minutes and a beer fridge.
She said tickets cost $10 and will include a plate of wings and a glass of beer.
