Raw wastewater effluent was unexpectedly discharged into the Moose Jaw River after an electrical short at the Crescent View Lift Station.
The City of Moose Jaw has advised downstream users of the river about the spill, which happened between 11:15 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. on Saturday.
In a press release, officials state there is no danger to the public related to the spill.
They state the problem has since been rectified and the lift station is now operating normally. The estimated volume of the spill was 263 metres cubed.
The Ministry of Environment and Environment Canada have been notified of the discharge through the Spill Hotline and city officials will continue to monitor the river to evaluate any environmental impact the spill may have had.
