Just why does someone make and sell crafts?
“I like it. It keeps me busy,” said Moose Jaw’s Mathilde Mintenko. “Watching TV is mind-numbing.”
As 74-year-old Mintenko crocheted at her kiosk set up with fellow members of the Moose Jaw Crafters’ Guild at Town & Country Mall on Saturday, she told the Times-Herald there are many reasons she sells home-made products, not the least of which is the idea her crafts will be appreciated useful products for those who purchase them.
Mintenko said it’s satisfying when, for example, adults tell her their children use the doll tents Mintenko made many years ago, when the parents were themselves children.
After about 30 years creating crafts, Mintenko has several stories of satisfied costumers.
