“It was surprisingly unexpected that the City of Moose Jaw that does not provide some form of remuneration for members of the development appeals board,” said Moose Jaw development appeals board chairman Walt Dmetrichuk during Monday’s council meeting.
Dmetrichuk was addressing council, requesting the six board members receive remuneration for each meeting they attend.
Currently, board members receive no remuneration and Dmetrichuk would like remuneration in the amount of $35 for each of the members. Over a 12-month period, that would equal a total of $2,520.
He told council that after looking at four cities in Saskatchewan (Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current and Prince Albert), the board realized it was not receiving any pay for the services it provides, while other large Saskatchewan municipalities are providing such compensation.
