No nominations for farmer/farm family of the year

Les and Judy Cochrane recognized as Farm Family of the Year at the 2009 banquet

No nominations for the annual Farmer/Farm Family of the Year were received by the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company this year.

Due to the lack of nominations, the annual awards banquet at the Golden Nugget Centre on the exhibition grounds was also cancelled.

Sponsored by the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company Limited in partnership with the District 8 4-H Council, the award honours and celebrates innovation, excellence and leadership in agriculture.

The 2009 winners were Les and Judy Cochrane and family.

Ernie Wilson, president of the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company, said it was disheartening that nobody was nominated.

“It was really disheartening because I know there’s a lot of great deserving families out there.

“We are thinking of trying in the fall with something different and having a fall agricultural phenomena.”
