The first annual Moose Jaw Shrine Children’s Festival will take place on June 5 with a host of entertainers and games for youngsters.
The members of the Moose Jaw Shrine Club are breaking with tradition with a new event this year instead of the Shrine Circus.
Now Greg Marcyniuk, chairman for the children’s festival, said the new event will offer a more interactive program for families.
He said there will be singers, magicians, jugglers and clowns.
Marcyniuk said the circus often turned out quite expensive for families but this event would be much easier for them with free hotdogs, pop and candy floss or popcorn available for children.
There will be two shows with the first at 10 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m and there will be three different show venues.
The venues in the Moose Jaw Shrine Club and the Western Development Museum will consist of entertainers and also one of the Shriner’s patients, who will speak to the audience.
The third venue will be a tent in front of the club with a local children’s choir.
Marcyniuk said the Band City Kennel and Obedience Club will also be helping out.
The Moose Jaw Fire Department and the EMS will have vehicles there for children to look at.
