An annual festival in Moose Jaw which offers food, dance and song from across the world has been granted federal funding.
The city’s Motif Multicultural Festival will receive $5,400 to celebrate art and culture.
The funding was announced by Ray Boughen, Member of Parliament for Palliser, as part of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program.
Last year, Motif received $10,000 from the same program.
Tara Blanchard, the Multicultural Council executive director, said she was very excited about the funding.
“We are grateful that the federal government has once again supported Motif our annual festival.
“Depending on the eligible costs, the money will go to volunteer recognition and it will go towards the operations of the festival.
“Last year was the first time we had this funding so this is the second time we have received the funding from Canadian Heritage,” she said.
Blanchard said right now Motif, which will take place on July 9, 10 and 11 in Happy Valley Park, is in the planning stages.
