Students looking for jobs can find helpful services at the Moose Jaw Service Canada Centre for Youth, SCCY, says youth service officer Alexis Kindrachuk.
According to the SCCY, its main target is young people, mostly secondary and post-secondary students. The primary mandate of the SCCY is to assist students in their search for summer employment by connecting them with local employers and helping them prepare their resumes.
Kindrachuk told the Times-Herald that there has been 109 job listings given to the SCCY since early May. She said this number is slightly lower than last year but attributes that to the bad weather. Many jobs given to the SCCY involve outdoor work. Further into the summer Kindrachuk expects work in this area to pick up.
The odd job squad is one of the services for youth that the SCCY provides. This initiative provides students with work from homeowners and businesses that usually lasts 1-2 days at a time. The SCCY is located at 111 Fairford St. E., suite 501. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
