It took more than a little rain and cold weather to stop Family Fest from providing entertainment for children and adults alike on Sunday. Rather than hold the event in Crescent Park, organizers simply moved activities into the local Church of God.

“Obviously, things are a little changed due to rain,” event organizer Michele Krieger told the Times-Herald on Sunday. She said the Church of God-organized event didn’t happen last year due to rain and she didn’t want the same fate to befall this year’s festival.

So crowds of families, from the Church of God and elsewhere in the community, filled the church for games, music and a little Saskatchewan Roughriders charm.

“We still had Gainer the Gopher coming,” Krieger said, adding there were also various stage performances (such as a Celtic rock band), candy toss, free hot dogs, Borrowing Owls activities, an art room and face painting.
