It is hoped a site supervisor for Moose Jaw’s first Habitat for Humanity project will be announced at the end of this week.
The project has suffered delays as there were problems finding a site supervisor but interviews are taking place this week.
They need a supervisor who is properly qualified and experienced but also willing to work for a fee the non-profit organization can afford.
Brian Martynook, chairman of Moose Jaw Habitat For Humanity, said three people are being interviewed for the position this week.
“We should know by the end of the week. Before we did not have anybody so I just hope . . . they are the right people,” he said.
Martynook said work will start on the build depending on the chosen site supervisor’s schedule.
“It’s getting a little bit late but if their schedule is wide open, we hope we can get the basement in this fall and if not, first thing in the spring.”
Originally it was hoped the family, which was selected earlier this year, would be in their new home by Christmas but now Martynook said it will be later spring, early summer.
“We are not going to have volunteers out in -30 (degrees centigrade),” he said.
So far the name of the family has not been announced but Martynook said once a site supervisor is chosen, all will be revealed.
