Summer does not officially end for another 20 days, but on Thursday hundreds of Moose Javians sent out the season with a party at the Harvest Moon Festival.
The young, old, and all those in between attended the annual festival in Wakamow Valley, and there was plenty of entertainment for all ages. While horses lead hay rides around the grounds and canoeists and kayakers tested the waters, children busied themselves petting animals, bouncing and sliding, and a clown made balloon swords.
Meanwhile, attendees feasted on pie, hamburgers, pizza, and delicious corn on the cob. Just beyond the food tents, musicians and magicians entertained the crowds throughout the four-hour event.
"It's just held to say goodbye to summer," said Gerry Stonechild, head of the Wakamow Valley Education Committee, "It's always our nicest time of the year down in valley."
