Better Homes and Gardens Moose Jaw held a two-day Home Expo showcasing the many services and companies dealing in household goods in the Friendly City at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Centre this past weekend.

“Going into the weekend, we thought the weather might have played a big part in (turn out) and that did not end up being the case,” said Matt Dominguez, Better Homes and Gardens Moose Jaw branch manager. “The vendors have been very happy with the turn out, and I’m very happy as well.”

Dominguez said more than 1,000 people came out to the Expo, bringing $400 in cash donations and roughly 200 pounds of food for the Moose Jaw Food Bank.

“It’s been good — really good. That’s the people of Moose Jaw helping out,” he said. “I think one of the biggest (draws) is, it’s free admission.”

There was even entertainment for the kids in the form of a bouncy castle.

“People want to come, and even for me — I’ve got kids — it’s a whole lot easier when they’re entertained,” he said. “We made sure we had a bouncy castle and it’s been good. It’s been hot. It’s a hit.”

Dominguez said he was so pleased with the Expo that the company has already booked next year’s event.

“We’re also booked in next year, same event with almost twice as many vendors, because we’re going to try to grow it,” he said. “Same time ... April 12 and 13, 2014, so put that in your calendars.”
