Richard Bourassa is returning to Moose Jaw as the new Chief of Police.
Bourassa, who was born and raised in Moose Jaw, will assume his new position with the Moose Jaw Police Service effective Oct. 7, 2013.
Bourassa currently serves as Director of Court Security for the Ministry of Justice since July 2011. Prior to that, he had a 30-year career with the Regina Police Service. He had a senior role where he managed approximately 250 sworn and civilian employees. He was responsible for front-line operations, communications, detention, community programs, emergency services, community policing, and oversight of response to major incidents. He is credited with created and managing the divisional strategic plan and budget.
According to a City of Moose Jaw press release, Bourassa plans to reside in Moose Jaw and is making arrangements to do so.
