Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder luncheon
The National Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Day luncheon will be on Sept. 9 at 11:30 a.m at the Wakamow Sportsman’s Centre, 276 Home St. E. The guest speaker is Sandra Overs, whose topic will be “Parenting Individuals with FASD — the big change!” There will also be a fashion show. Cost is $5 at the door.
Zion United Church will hold a garage sale in the gymnasium on Sept. 12, 3-7 p.m. and on Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon. The church will accept good quality items until Sept. 9 and those items can be dropped off at the church during office hours. No large appliances or mattresses are accepted. Roast beef supper
Moose Jaw and District Seniors will have a roast beef supper on Sept. 13 with cocktails at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. The music will be by Jam. Tickets are $14 and are available at the front desk at 510 Main St. N.
Charity golf tournament
The Rotary Clubs of Moose Jaw and Moose Jaw Wakamow will have the annual charity golf tournament and silent auction at the Deer Ridge Golf and Country Club on Sept. 14. Registration is at noon and tee-off is at 1 p.m. It will be a texas scramble format with a shotgun start and steak dinner to follow. Proceeds will go to the South Hill Family Centre. The exhibits Ward Schell: Undergrowth and Robert David Symons Countryman: Artist, Writer, Naturalist, Rancher will be at the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery from Sept. 19 to Jan. 5. The opening reception will be on Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. with music by Bob Evans. Everyone is welcome.
Alzheimer learning series
Alzheimer Care Essentials Learning Series will be on Oct. 1, 8, 15 and 22 at 7 p.m. The four-week series is for families, care partners and friends of people in the middle stages of dementia who might have more complex care needs because of disease progression. Topics will include the progression of dementia, the caregiver journey, day-to-day care, understanding behvaiour and community resources. It will be available at the following Five Hills Health Region Telehealth sites: Moose Jaw, Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Rockglen, Craik and Central Butte. Pre-registration is required by Sept. 26. Friends of the Library fall used book sale will be on Oct. 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library. Paperback and hardcover books and magazines will be for sale.
