Moose Jaw is getting two new condo apartment units.
In August the city’s largest building permit was worth $6,000 to allow for 12 apartment condo units on the 400 block of Home Street West at a cost of $1.2 million.
The city also issued a permit worth $3,250 to Caleb Group of Companies to build a foundation for a 94-unit condo on the 900 block of Bradley Street in Westheath at a cost of $650,000.
Those were two of 37 permits issued in August worth $6.94 million. In August 2012 the city issued 43 permits worth $4.72 million.
The second largest permit last month went to TDL Group Corp. The permit valued at $4,295 will allow interior alterations to a restaurant and drive thru at Tim Hortons at 908 Main St. N. at a cost of $859,000.
The third largest permit, valued at $3,551, was issued to Firebird Developments Ltd. to allow the construction of a semi-detached home with attached garages and decks on the zero block of Hodges Crescent in West Park at a cost of $710,200.
The Five Hills Health Region, which in June and July received the largest building permits of the month, received a permit worth $750 for the mechanical for underground site services for the new hospital at a cost of $150,000.
The other government and institutional permit, worth $5,000, will allow for the construction of a stealth pole and two equipment cabinets at the Elgin Park Right of Way.
There were four commercial and industrial permits, including the one for the restaurant alterations on Main Street. One permit valued at $2,000 went to Loblaw Properties for $400,000-alterations for a medical clinic at 30 Thatcher Dr. E.
Another, worth $760, went to Paice Construction for a cold storage building at 2025 Norwood Ave. at a cost of $152,000.
The other commercial and industrial permit, valued at 50, went to Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada for the $2,335-removal and repair of windows at 40 Manitoba St. E.
There were 31 residential permits. Nine were for storage garages, including open air parking garages, nine were for new houses and seven for alterations, repairs and additions to homes.
Mirage Builders received a $1,760-permit to build a dwelling with an attached garage and covered rear deck on the 1100 block of Meier Drive in West Park at a cost of $387,280.
Another permit valued at $1,624 was for a dwelling and attached garage also on the 1100 block of Meier Drive at a cost of $324,800.
Robinson Contracting Ltd. received three building permits in August. One was worth $1,466 to allow for the $293,200-construction of a dwelling and attached garage on the zero block of Wellington Place.
Yet another permit worth $1,330 was to build a dwelling and attached garage on the 1200 block of Iroquois Drive at an estimated cost of $266,000.
The third permit issued to Robinson Contracting Ltd. valued at $70 was for a detached garage on the 700 block of Fairford Street East at a cost of $14,000.
In total from Jan. 1, 2013 to Aug. 31, 2013 the city has issued 232 permits worth approximately $63.70 million. In the same time frame in 2012, the city issued 304 permits worth approximately $53.95 million.
