Moose Jaw Fire department responded to six calls between 7 a.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. on Saturday.
Headquarters and Lillooet stations assisted EMS with a motor vehicle collision, extinguished a camper and garage fire and extinguished another garage fire.
Headquarters station responded to two service calls
Moose Jaw Police Service responded to 61 calls for service between 7 a.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. on Saturday including two reports of unwanted guest, three mediated disputes, two reports of persons fighting, one custody dispute stemming from Quebec, one reported assault, one reported historical sexual assault, two persons were threatened, two frauds and four intoxicated persons (one held until sober), one person was charged with impaired driving and two others were given 24-hour suspensions.
Police received a report of a non-Canadian moving cargo illegally from Moose Jaw to Ontario.
Police are still investigating a mischief to property and two hit and runs to vehicles.
Police responded to a motor vehicle collision that resulted in one injury, damage over $5,000 and one person charged.
Air Miles Scam
The Moose Jaw Police Service has received a number of calls regarding an Air Miles Scam.
The call display will be of a local area number but starting with the “1” 306-XXX-XXXX number. The number displayed will be a false number. Please do not return call on the number displayed; for the owner of this number has been a victim of their phone number being misused.
The caller will inform you that you have won an enormous amount of Air Miles. To redeem the points, they are encouraged to press “1”, and are then connected to an operator who will take the call live. This is followed by a series of questions asking for personal information. Do not press “1”. Do not provide any information. This is a fraud, just hang up. The caller is attempting to garner personal/banking information and or money for their own gain.
Just hang up and follow the directions as provided by your service provider concerning nuisance calls.
