Inviting Moose Javians to take a seat and enjoy the show, the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery (MJMAG) and Hunger in Moose Jaw will once again be hosting their annual Chair-ity Auction, Oct. 17.
Changing up the format just a bit, Ross Melanson of the MJMAG said this year’s event will feature a lot more than just the usual, uniquely wonderful chairs it tends to feature, but instead will have a little bit of something for everyone.
The first big change, said Melanson, is the location.
No longer being held at the MJMAG theatre, the event has moved to the Wakamow Valley Sportsman’s Centre, 276 Home St. E.
“Wanting to always expand and create more success for this event, we have moved it to a larger venue that can better accommodate the (atmosphere) and additions we have made.”
Melanson said this year organizers have also decided to sell tickets to the event, which are $10 and can be purchased at either the MJMAG office or the Hunger in Moose Jaw office. He said board members of both organizations will also have tickets available.
He said although the ticket system is new, those who attend are getting a lot for a small price.
“Not only does the $10 ticket get you entered into a draw for a wonderful door prize, which is a free night in a luxury King room and the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, but it also gets you in to a Jack Semple concert, gives you the opportunity to bid on a number of silent auction items and some beautiful glass and ceramic bowls that have been donated by local artists.”
Melanson said there will also be a penny parade and of course the main event, the Chair-ity Auction.
As in years past, this year’s guest auctioneer will be Glenn Hagel, who has over the years proved to be a show in himself.
“This really is going to be a great event and I would encourage those who want to attend to get their tickets sooner rather than later. Ticket sales have been going really good and I would hate for someone to miss out.”
Melanson said he has already had an opportunity to hear about and see some of this year’s chairs and is sure the public will not be disappointed.
If you would like to view some of the chairs prior to the event, Melanson said they will be on display Oct. 15 – 16 at the MJMAG.
