Keshia Marie Key sobbed as she entered and exited the prisoner’s box of the courtroom on Tuesday morning.

The only words she spoke during her brief first appearance at Moose Jaw Provincial came right before she was remanded.

“Will I be able to call my daughter, your honour?” Key asked.

Judge Margaret Gordon told Key to ask security personnel at the facility about the phone call.

Key, 22, was remanded until her bail hearing on Friday. She faces a charge of aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing a man.

The Crown opposed her release on Tuesday.

At around 2 a.m. Tuesday, police and EMS responded to a residence on the 500 block of MacDonald Street where a male victim was found stabbed in the leg. The male victim was transported to Union Hospital where he was treated and released.
