Grade 3 students Jada Therens (left) and Anna Zamrykut blog about their respective family Christmas traditions at Sacred Heart School on Tuesday morning.

Lindsay Morhart is using blogging as a learning tool to help her Grade 3 students at Sacred Heart School.

“There is a big focus on literacy and blogging allows for lots of opportunities for kids to be creating more and consuming less,” said Morhart, who is also the vice principal at Sacred Heart.

This is Morhart’s first year teaching Grade 3, after previous years spent teaching Grade 8. She did, however, blog regularly with her past classes and has brought said tool to younger students.

Throughout the fall she has given her students topics on which to blog, but she hopes by the end of the school year they will be choosing their own topics.

And nothing is posted online until Morhart approves each of the 17 students’ blog posts, including comments.
