The City of Moose Jaw's Executive Committee has voted unanimously in favour of extending the Moose Jaw Humane Society's contract for 90 days at $17,000 per month — a slight increase over what they currently receive per month — pending further negotiations.

Jewel is one of many cats the Moose Jaw Humane Society cares for in its shelter. Jewel has been in the shelter for more than four weeks.

Councillors Brian Swanson and Heather Eby were absent from the vote.

Note that this decision is NOT final. Executive Committee's minutes will come before Council at its next meeting for a final vote.

The Times-Herald has updated this story.

This story has been corrected from an earlier version that stated the vote was passed three to two. The Times-Herald apologizes for the error.
