Rory Allen is once again set to entertain for the benefit of the humane society.

On Feb. 6 at the Heritage Inn, the Saskatchewan-born Elvis Presley impersonator will perform as part of the Moose Jaw Humane Society’s third annual Valentine’s fundraiser, Kisses for Kritters with a Tribute to the King.”

“(Allen keeps returning because) I guess just the support he gets from Moose Jaw,” said Dawn Cardell, fundraising co-ordinator for the shelter. “He’s very popular here and he likes to help support us.”

The night will be more than Elvis tributes, however. There will also be cocktails, a roast chicken dinner and dessert prior to Allen’s performance. There will be a silent auction and a 50/50 draw.

All money raised will go to the humane society and will help rescue and care for the animals.

“It’s just a fun night out,” said Cardell,

She added lately, the public support for the humane society has continued to be quite strong.

Last year’s event raised approximately $2,000. The inaugural year raised $800 for the shelter. The 2013 show was a near sell-out with 140 people in attendance.

According to Allen’s website, he has performed internationally on stage, on the radio and on television as well as at events. He, along with his wife Lorie, were awarded Saskatchewan Centennial Medals because of their “numerous charitable and fundraising activities.”

He has also sung with the Grammy Award-winning quartet the Jordonaires from Nashville and Elvis’ Imperials quartet.

“Rory has always enjoyed entertaining people and from an early age he thrived on stage,” the website said. “Gospel music and singing in church played a huge part in developing his rich, clear and powerful singing voice.”

Tickets are $50 each and each ticket purchase is eligible for a $25-tax receipt upon request. Tickets are available for purchase at the shelter or by calling 306-692-1517.
