Tereen Mowrey of Henderson Insurance was named to Insurance Business Magazine's Elite Top 30 Brokers in Canada. She was one of three brokers selected from Saskatchewan.
“I have such a passion for what we do and I think that definitely bleeds through into my relationships with my clients,” Mowrey said.
An account executive at Henderson Insurance with eight years of experience, Mowrey was named to Insurance Business Magazine’s Elite Top 30 Brokers in Canada. She was ranked at 27th, and was only one of three brokers from Saskatchewan included on the list.
Risk management insurance requires Mowrey to take on many different businesses and help them individually, a challenge she enjoys.
“Insurance is very complex, but to be able to learn everything that you can about a business is so fascinating,” Mowrey said. “Then applying that into risk and insurance, there’s never a dull moment and never a situation that isn’t interesting,”
She said it’s rewarding to tie in her knowledge of risk and insurance to help businesses reach higher levels of success. Getting selected as one of the country’s top insurance brokers is just a bonus.
“It’s very humbling,” Mowrey said. “I immediately also thought about the team that I work with at Henderson Insurance. I can’t do what I do best without the help of them.”
Dave Reidy, president and CEO at Henderson Insurance, easily identified Mowrey’s passion as the characteristic that makes her an elite broker.
“The biggest thing about Tereen is she’s incredibly passionate about our business, about risk management insurance,” Reidy told the Times-Herald.
“Secondly, she’s incredibly passionate about the people that she does business with, the clients and her teammates there at Henderson Insurance.”
Reidy said Mowrey’s strong knowledge base and natural curiosity compliment the passion she brings to the job.
“If you’re a business owner or somebody that’s running a business, you’re generally attracted to people that are genuinely interested in what you do,” Reidy said.
He said that in addition to her work at Henderson Insurance, Mowrey is a mother of three and is active in the community.
“Sometimes I do wish I could split myself in three, but that’s not possible,” Mowrey said.
Her two sons and one daughter are all under 9 years old. Mowrey said it can be a juggling act for her and her husband, but balance and organization are the keys to success.
“The dance studio is usually close to the rink, so that helps,” Mowrey said.
Though she grew up in southeast Saskatchewan, Mowrey lived in Calgary for eight years. She’s been in Moose Jaw for nearly nine years and is enjoying the advantages of small city life.
“I can be at a client meeting and then five minutes later I can be at the dance studio, back at another client meeting and then to the rink,” Mowrey said. “That’s not possible if I was living in Calgary.”
