Only 4,000 tickets will be sold for a chance to win a 2014 Lund 1600 Fury Side Console boat with all proceeds going to the Moose Jaw Humane Society.
The Moose Jaw Humane Society is raffling off a boat.
Sponsored by Moose Jaw RV and Marine, 4,000 tickets will be sold for a chance to win a 2014 Lund 1600 Fury Side Console boat.
“Instead of doing our spring lottery, we’re doing this boat raffle instead, which we’re really excited about,” said Stephenie Campbell, promotions and outreach co-ordinator with the Moose Jaw Humane Society. “We think it’s going to be very successful because the end product, I think, is something that people are really going to want.”
The boat includes a trailer, a Mercury 20 HP PLT EFI four-stroke motor, vinyl floor, propeller and Mercury analog pre-rig with gauges. The package also has life jackets, paddles, a first aid kit, bumpers, chains, ropes and a safety kit.
“It’s pretty much anything that you could possibly want,” said Campbell.
She added the pack includes a day of fishing with Lund Pro Fishing staff.
“For somebody like me who doesn’t really know where to go or what to do in the fishing department, we’ve got experts that will go out with you for a day on a guided fishing trip,” said Campbell. “It’s a pretty awesome package, especially now in the dead of winter when we’re all frozen we can sort of look forward to spring and summer.”
She said having only 4,000 tickets available gives everyone a “good chance of winning this great package.”
“For some reason it really is more exciting because you think instead of one in 10,000, one in a million chance of winning a lottery, you have a one in 4,000 chance of winning this boat package,” said Campbell. “We thought if we could come up with a goal of how many tickets we would like to sell and then promote that, it lets people know that it’s not just unlimited.”
There will also be a 50/50 draw with only 4,000 tickets sold.. The 50/50 and the boat package draw will be made on May 9.
“It’s something a little bit different for us, but we are very positive about how people will feel about this,” said Campbell. “I mean, it’s great to win money. A lottery is great.
“Everyone likes to win a little money, but to win a dream boating package like this, I think is going to get people really excited and in the end, it’s all benefitting the shelter and helping the animals we’re taking care of.”
Tickets for the boat package are $10 each and tickets for the 50/50 draw are $5 each.
Tickets are available at the shelter, Moose Jaw RV and Marine, Minuteman Press, Field Plumbing, PetValu and various events and venues around the city, including the Moose Jaw RV and Marine indoor sale at Mosaic Place from Feb. 17 to 23. Until Friday, people can get tickets at the humane society book sale at the Town ‘n’ Country Mall.
Alternatively, call the shelter at 306-692-1517 for tickets or more information.
