Maintenance crews work on the main pool of the Kinsmen Sportsplex. The pool was closed on Nov. 28, 2013 because of water colour, resulting in the inability to see the bottom of the deep end of the pool.
The pool was closed at 7 p.m. on March 13 in order that maintenance procedures recommended by the city's pool consultant could be started.
Correcting the issue of water clarity was completed.
Staff completed a procedure that saw the pool's circulation lines and individual filters cleaned. In addition, the process removed impurities and accumulations in the system which will enable pool filters to be more efficient.
Ministry of Heath officials also approved the pool's reopening.
The City of Moose Jaw does, however, note that future closings may take place upon added recommendations from the pool consultant. They will be announced as required.
