The elderly victim of a vehicle on pedestrian collision at the corner of First Avenue Northwest and Athabasca Street West receives medical assistance from a first responder Tuesday afternoon.
"There was a pedestrian crossing the street and a vehicle was turning left onto First Avenue Northwest here off of Athabasca," said Cst. Jay Sills with the Moose Jaw Police Service. "(The driver) didn't see the pedestrian and struck her."
The victim, an elderly woman, was transported by EMS to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. She was speaking with first responders before being loaded into the ambulance.
Sills said the vehicle was still on scene and the pedestrian appeared to be "fine at this point," but that she had been taken to hospital for "further evaluation."
"It could be a lot worse, when a big vehicle like this strikes someone," Sills added. "But at this moment, it looks like everybody will be okay."
