Roof repair and replacement for the Kinsmen Sporsplex might receive provincial funding.

Executive committee approved the submission of the project for an application for funding from the Community Initiatives Fund Community Places and Spaces Program. The city may be required to provide a matching contribution up to 50 per cent of eligible costs.

A total of $139,000 in funding has been approved for roof repairs at the Kinsmen Sportsplex and the Pla-mor Palace. A total of $70,000 was allocated to replace the roof over the dressing rooms at the Kinsmen Arena because of leaking and surface deterioration.

To be eligible for the program, the project must be finished within 24 months and it must serve a variety of community needs regarding sport, culture, recreation, physical activity, heritage and human or social services.
