Man hospitalized in Saskatoon has tested negative for Ebola

A man who recently travelled to Western Africa has been hospitalized in Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan public health officials have issued an alert Monday to inform the public a man had been hospitalized with "high fever and other symptoms."

A diagnosis had not been confirmed, but the patient had been quarantined to prevent transmission of the disease.

After sending tests to the Public Health Agency of Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg, according to a news story from the Star Phoenix, the results came back negative for the Ebola virus.

African health officials announced Monday that an outbreak of the virus in Guinea is believed to have killed 59 people.
