The provincial government has named eight individuals to receive a Saskatchewan Volunteer Medal and Moose Javian Leslie Good is one of them. Good, a retired master corporal has dedicated two decades of his life to volunteerism in Moose Jaw, Regina and Qu’Appelle. “Here in Saskatchewan, I started off at the Wascana Rehab Centre, and on this Friday coming up, it’s going to be my 19th year there,” said Good. “I was helping out in the children’s programs and giving tours of Wascana. I was doing a lot of things there.” – March 26, 2013

Fire calls

The Moose Jaw Fire Department responded to one call for service between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, for an activated fire alarm.

 

Police calls

The Moose Jaw Police Service responded to 54 calls for service between 7 a.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, including six 911 calls, two court orders breached, one theft and a mischief to a vehicle sometime between March 16-23 on the 1000 block of Hastings Street was reported to police. It caused approximately $5,000 in damage.

Police charged an adult male with assault and assault with a weapon after an altercation on the 1000 block of Fourth Avenue Northeast. The parties were known to each other, but no injuries were sustained.

Police continue to investigate an assault that was reported to police between two females on the 300 block of Ominica Street West.

An adult male was charged for causing a disturbance between family members on the zero block of Buttercup Crescent. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Police were also called to a residence on the 1200 block of Third Avenue Northeast of a report of an adult male starting a fire in the residence. The fire was put out, but an adult male was arrested, charged with mischief and will appear in court at a later date.
