Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad was not shy in taking a shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The latest theatrical performance by RuBarb Productions at the Mae Wilson Theatre had audience members laughing throughout the majority of Saturday’s show, especially after taking jabs at the Leafs and Montreal Canadiens.

A Canadian comedy classic, Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad told the story of two single parents who fall in love while watching their sons play minor hockey from the stands.

A unique romantic comedy featuring Tim Hildebrand (Teddy) and Evie Koop Sawatzky (Donna), the production was a rollicking slapshot of satire complete with a look at Canada’s favourite obsession.

Laughter also filled the seats at the Mae Wilson on Sunday, albeit primarily courtesy of enthused children.

Splash’N Boots – Nick Adams (Splash) and Taes Leavitt (Boots) – performed a host of children’s musical numbers for about 100 parents and kids.

The duo, which admits to loving to perform for children, constantly engaged with the littlest of audience members throughout the show. They even brought a couple of kids on stage to sing their favourite song.

After somehow making his way on stage, a young boy was excited to sing along to the “dinosaur song.” Not only could this little dinosaur sing, but he also sounded like a dinosaur.

The roar he gave into the microphone resulted in a massive roar of laughter from the audience itself.
