The Moose Jaw Family YMCA is growing.

The Athabasca Health and Fitness Centre will be expanding into the now closed Co-op cafeteria.

"The new space will be an extension of our current conditioning centre," Jeff Fox, CEO said in a release.

The YMCA will begin renovating the 4,500 square foot space on May 1, with a completion date of Sept. 1.

All adult fitness classes will be held in the new area.

Fox also stated that the expansion will enable them to offer child care in a much larger space as well as additional cardio equipment in the existing conditioning centre.

"The Moose Jaw Co-op has enjoyed a great relationship with the Y since they have become part of our location," said Gerry Onyskevitch, general manager of the Co-op. "We are looking forward to the future and the benefits that an expanded Y will bring not only to the current Y members, but the Moose Jaw Co-op membership as well."
