The Mae Wilson Theatre in Moose Jaw hosts many shows and events.
Seeing The Uncoolas on Friday will support Canada Day celebrations in the city.
The Uncoolas will perform a show called This Time it’s Personal at the Mae Wilson Theatre at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
“We’re using it to raise funds so we can put on the Canada Day celebrations and especially to get money to put on a fireworks display,” said Russ McKnight, chairman of the Canada Day committee. “We’re struggling for funds there. So The Uncoolas stepped forward.”
He said it could cost up to $6,000 to purchase fireworks and cover others costs such as production.
The Uncoolas performed a benefit concert for last year’s Canada Day celebration as well.
“They’re quite supportive,” said McKnight. “They don’t perform regularly, just every now and then, and it’s because of their love of music that they perform.”
He said they perform a lot of old hits.
“When they’re performing people know exactly what they’re doing. They started off last year’s performance with The Twist,” said McKnight. “They’re very entertaining and they’re very popular around Moose Jaw.”
He is expecting a large crowd to come out to the benefit concert.
“We had a capacity crowd last year. We expect another sell-out this year,” said McKnight. “We encourage people to come, not only because they’ll enjoy it, but we need to have the support for the funding to make the fireworks and celebrations a reality.”
There is rush seating for the event. Tickets are $25 and are available at the Mae Wilson Theatre.
