Photographer Andy Hamilton will be showing off his new 111 Main Street studio on Friday at the loft's grand opening. Those interested in his photography can attend from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
That is if they weren't planning on attending the grand opening of photographer Andy Hamilton's new studio.
"This is a chance for me to show people that I am here, to get my name out. It's going to be a fun event," said Hamilton. "As much as it's for my business, it's a cool opportunity for people to listen to music and have something to eat and drink and mingle."
Hamilton, a southern Ontario born photographer, has been in the new space since June and believes the new facility gives him the space required to offer a full-range of services to his clients.
"It's a space for clients to come in and view their images after the photo session," he said. "They get to see their images on a large screen, sit on the couch and kind of take it in through a slideshow with music and a beverage and see samples of my work so they can make their choices of what they want to order."
Hamilton, a Ryerson University grad, brings years of experience in film and television to his photography style. After years of only doing photography on the side, he transitioned three years ago to photography — opening his business six months before he moved with his wife to Moose Jaw, which is her hometown.
The photographer, who does portrait, commercial and wedding photography, explained to the Times-Herald that he is driven as photographer to impress his clients with great images.
"Knowing that some of these images will be on someone's wall for years to come and that they will look back at that time of their life fondly — that makes me feel like I am creating something useful and with value."
Hamilton's grand opening at his 111 Main Street studio will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday night.
