Belle Plaine employees celebrate 50th with big donation

People don't tend to give gifts on their birthdays, but the employees of Mosaic's Belle Plaine mine have a different philosophy.

Peter Jackson (left), vice president of potash operations for the Mosaic Company, presents a cheque to Carol Acton with Hunger in Moose Jaw for $15,000. The company donated that sum plus the funds raised through bar sales at their 50th anniversary celebration for the Belle Plaine mine to the Moose Jaw charity.

During the 50th anniversary celebration for the mine at Mosaic Place on Friday, the company presented a $15,000 cheque and committed all of the proceeds of the event's bar sales to Hunger in Moose Jaw, a charitable organization in the Friendly City that has long been a beneficiary of their generosity.
