Now in her fourth year in real estate, Doreen Heinbigner has assumed an ownership role.
As of July 1, she has been the new owner and branch manager of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate in Moose Jaw, located at 104 River St. E.
“I actually never thought I would be a business owner,” she said. “Everything just sort of fell into place actually and it’s been great so far.”
Heinbigner has been in Moose Jaw for more than 16 years. Before that, she grew up north of Saskatoon.
"I feel like my family's been part of the community enough that we're comfortable. This is home ... I feel like we can do so much for Moose Jaw,” she said. “Real estate can be a fun career. So it made sense to step up and be the broker and I think the fellow agents that I work with look up to me and it was just a good fit.”
She would like to increase the company’s presence in Moose Jaw.
“I would like the public more aware that we’re not just about sales. We’re a huge part of the community, finding them the perfect homes for fellow neighbours and helping out at charity events,” said Heinbigner.
“I just want to continue growing, continuously giving customer satisfaction and give back to the community. That’s one of the things we’re really proud of.”
Agents, as well as working with the Moose Jaw Real Estate Board, have put together events for Habitat for Humanity, Soles for Souls, Moose Jaw and District Food Bank and Moose Jaw Transition House.
“We’re also a little bit more about lifestyle and homes than maybe some of the other brokerages,” said Heinbigner. “We just got a lot of talented agents here. We do farm, commercial and residential. Everybody knows the brand. It’s fun advertising it that way.”
